Ally had dance rehearsal today and I was able to make a video of the event. Seeing they don't allow them at the actual recital. Of course they want you to buy the DVD at $40!! When I started to record the ballet it cut out on me and so I tried to hurry and get the rest so I missed a little of the middle. All I could think of was this is a great time for the batteries to go out so I decided not to record the second go round of ballet. I did get the tap twice, so I could decide which one was better. I hope you enjoy.

Trip to the Nature Center
March 29, 2009
Ally, Mom and Dad put together the wagon the girls got for Christmas from Grandma Cathie and Poppy Don. As we worked on assembling it Gabby took a nap. When she woke up we loaded the wagon into the back of the van and headed out to Tamarak Nature Center.
Once we were there Ally was our tour guide. She instructed us to go on the paved path. We then headed over to the lake. The girls were trying to "call" the fish up through the ice. It was quite funny, "Here fishy, fishy, fishy!" Ally was bummed we couldn't go into the actual center and show us around. I think this will be a place for us to visit again.

Sisterly Love
Today Ally went to a birthday party at the MOA with her friend Lola. She had a great time. they went on just about every ride. Some I didn't even know she could get on. And then they went to dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe. Apparently you get a volcano birthday cake:) While she was gone Gabby did her usually thing for a Sunday afternoon, eat lunch then nappy time. This a struggle to get her to actually lay down and nap. You have to love daylight savings time. It just throws everyone off, cyclically speaking. During any waking moment that Ally was gone Gabby asked about every 5 minutes, "What Ally doing?" I would tell her she was with Lola and we moved on for about 5 minutes, then the question would arise again. The best part was when she went over to the front window and yelled, "Ally where are you? Come home!" There are times when Gabby picks at Ally and Ally is very good at just taking it. Then there are times like this moment when you truly know that she loves Ally. It will be interesting come the fall when Ally goes to school and Gabby is by herself at Karens.

Reading Buddies
A couple of weeks ago Ally and Gabby were laying on couch and were reading the "Nemo" book. Ally would ask Gabby to find the different pictures. I happen to walk by when they were doing this and caught a bit of it on tape. I thought it was awfully cute!
Snuggles
One of my favorite times of the day is when the girls go to bed and I get to snuggle. I usually snuggle with Gabby, because I fit in her bed, and Brian does with Ally. We start out by reading a story and then lay down. Gabby jumps into bed and I get her blankets all situated around her. Then she turns on her music, with bubbles. She will then say "way down Momma." So I lay down next to her and she will share some of her covers with me. This is when we get to snuggle and talk a little. Lately she will ask me what Awwy is doing and then what Daddy is doing. I will respond and then I ask her what Momma is doing and she tells me that I'm snuggling with Gabby. When I finally decide I've had enough snuggles to last me another day I will get up. Gabby will then grab my head and try to push it back down and says "Way down Momma!" I give my kisses and we always say "nigh night, see you in the morning, wuv you!"
When I'm finished with Gabby I usually go in and snuggle a bit with Ally. Right now we have been reading chapter books and I am using some of the reading strategies I have learned with her. It's great because we always review what happened in the previous chapter and at the end of reading the current one we try to predict what will happen in the next chapter. Then we turn off the light and do a bit of snuggling. All in all I think I'm a pretty lucky mom.

Sliding Fun
Today was the first time Gabby ever went sliding. It was fairly nice and I promised to bring her outside to play. She really didn't take a nap and I had to drop some stuff off at a Stampin' Up customer and thought it might be nice to bring the girls to a sledding hill. The hill is behind the Y and pretty big. The girls had a great time and I definitely got a work out. Of course it's great fun going down that hill but the climb back up can be daunting for a 2 year old to go up. Gabby would make it about 1/4 of the way up and then just couldn't make it the rest of the way. That is when I would come in and save the day by either carrying her or pulling her in the sled. Ally was great going up and down the hill. She never complained about sharing the ride down with her sister. Seeing that we only have one sled!!
